Dr. Andrew Smith graduated from North Carolina State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. He then completed two equine internships (NCSU-CVM and New England Equine Practice) before starting his residency at the University of Florida, which he completed in 2014. During his residency, Dr. Smith worked on a grant studying the effects of gene therapy on osteoarthritis. This worked expanded into the completion of a PhD specifically looking at the use of MRI to identify the changes associated with post-traumatic osteoarthritis. He became certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgery and became a clinical faculty member at the University of Florida in 2017. He later became a certified veterinary medical manipulation practitioner in 2019. In 2020, Dr. Smith moved back to Virginia to work at Woodside Equine Clinic for 2 years before returning back to Florida to work at Peterson Smith as an Associate Surgeon.
