Dr. Al Kane is a veterinary epidemiologist, recently retired from the US Department of Agriculture, APHIS: Veterinary Services. There he primarily served as the Staff Veterinarian for the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Wild Horse and Burro Program. I addition to managing an interagency agreement between the USDA and the BLM, he assisted with field operations, served on the BLM’s National WH&B Research Advisory Team and lead the development of the BLM’s Comprehensive Animal Welfare (auditing) Program. At present, Dr. Kane is consulting in the fields of equine epidemiology and welfare while raising cattle on a small ranch in the grasslands of Northeastern Colorado.
